It is interesting to watch the world become increasingly digital while the number of devices connecting to that digital world grows exponentially. We took on the task of reviewing the statistics: over the past six years the number of devices connected to the network literally doubled, from 2,485 devices in 2014 to 4,388 in 2019. What makes that figure interesting is realizing that 52% of the total are mobile devices.

For these reasons it is important to see where the world is heading and get there first (as Bill Gates put it), and for that we need to be able to trust that the wireless network meets everything today's digital world demands.

Across the deployments we have carried out, we identified a winning combination for wireless networks: our Meraki equipment together with an Ekahau site survey. The success we see is not only about easy deployment and management from the Meraki dashboard; it also comes from strategically distributing access points to cover the whole company and having them work together, selecting the least congested or available channel in each frequency band to improve transmission and browsing speed.

It is no longer just about placing access points everywhere, but about identifying where greater coverage and concurrency are needed. All of that is possible with a site survey or heat map using Ekahau.
